Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a healthcare profession.  It specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions involving the muscles, joints, bones and nerves of the body (the musculoskeletal system).

Chiropractors are best known for treating back and neck pain however they are also trained to treat a wide array of other musculoskeletal problems. Chiropractors treat conditions such as painful shoulders, hips, knees, elbows as well as headaches that are arising from the neck.

Chiropractic is a healthcare profession and not a specific treatment. Chiropractors are best known for manipulation but that is not all they do and not something they do on everybody. Chiropractors use many different techniques and approaches to treat their patients. These include manipulation, mobilisation, soft tissue/muscle techniques, western medical acupuncture, exercise prescriptions, psychosocial interventions. All this treatment is provided alongside advice, information, and education.

You can read more about the different techniques our Chiropractor uses by looking at the techniques page of our website

In the UK Chiropractic is a registered profession and only those that have completed an accredited University degree can register as a Chiropractor.

In the past Chiropractic used to be considered an alternative form of treatment. However, the approach used by Chiropractors for the treatment of conditions such as back pain has shown to be very effective. More acceptance of Chiropractors from the medical community has resulted. Manipulation being delivered by Chiropractors is now included in the NICE guidelines. GPs often refer to Chiropractors for musculoskeletal issues such as back pain and neck pain.

Our Chiropractor Mark has been practicing in Grantham for over 7 years. He is registered with the General Chiropractic Council like all Chiropractors but he is also a member of other professional organisations. These include the Royal College of Chiropractors and British Chiropractic Association.
