Conditions
Shoulder Pain
Shoulder pain is another common condition we treat here at the clinic. It can arise from various causes and can significantly impact daily activities and quality of life. Shoulder pain can affect people of all ages and is often related to issues with the shoulder joint, muscles and tendons , or surrounding structures.
Causes
Shoulder pain can stem from numerous sources and, while rarely due to a serious underlying condition, can cause significant discomfort and functional limitations. Common causes of shoulder pain include:
- Rotator Cuff issues: These involve the muscles and tendons that stabilise the shoulder joint, often resulting from weakness in them, overuse or acute injury.
- Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis): This condition involves stiffness and pain in the shoulder joint, making movement difficult.
- Bursitis: Inflammation of the bursae, the small fluid-filled sacs that cushion the shoulder joint, can cause pain and restricted movement.
- Tendinopathy: Irritation of the tendons, often due to repetitive motion or overuse, can lead to shoulder pain.
- Arthritis: Degenerative conditions like osteoarthritis can affect the shoulder joint, causing pain and stiffness.
- Dislocations and Instability: Previous dislocations or chronic instability of the shoulder joint can result in ongoing pain and functional issues.
In addition to these specific conditions, poor posture, stress, and lifestyle factors such as inadequate sleep and lack of physical activity can contribute to shoulder pain.
- Exercise Prescription: Customised exercises that are progressed as you improve. These help relieve pain, restore mobility, and strengthen the shoulder muscles.
- Postural Advice: Guidance on improving posture to reduce strain on the shoulder and prevent pain recurrence.
- Acupuncture/Dry Needling: These techniques may be utilised to enhance pain relief and promote healing.
- Lifestyle Modifications: Strategies to address lifestyle factors contributing to your pain, such as improving sleep quality and managing stress.
We are dedicated to supporting you throughout your recovery, providing ongoing advice and adjustments to your treatment plan as needed to ensure optimal results.

Then my husband discovered Prime Therapy Chiropractic Clinic in Grantham. I booked a course of five shockwave therapy treatments and within a few short weeks I started to feel the difference. Mark Jessop is a first-rate therapist, he’s a joy to deal with and really knows his stuff. What’s more his services are also very reasonably priced. At last I’m looking forward to a brighter future - thank you so much Mark.Christine Cragg2023-04-03Mark is an excellent therapist. I had suffered with Plantar Fasciitis for months and nothing I tried had helped. After having the shock wave treatment I have been pain free and that is since Aug 22. So happy.Rachel Broughton2022-12-21I have recently had ESWT at Prime Therapy, I was advised by an NHS consultant that this could help the insertional achilles tendinitis and haglunds deformity, however it not available in that NHS trust. I contacted Prime Therapy Chiropractic clinic to make an appointment to discuss the treatment. Mark offered no false promises when discussing the ESWT and how it works. After 5 sessions with Mark I am able to walk properly again and I am virtually pain free. I couldn't have wished for a better outcome!! I found the whole experience from booking an appointment to the treatment extremely easy and professional. I did feel very apprehensive when I first arrived but Mark was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend anyone with this issue or something similar to contact Prime Therapy!!Google rating score: 4.9 of 5, based on 52 reviews
